A better fit for what you save

Keep (keep.md) alternatives for your saved library

Keep here is keep.md, the Markdown and agent-connected library, not Google Keep. Its current product combines saved sources, files and editable notes through MCP and CLI. Savebase is our first recommendation when you want a focused social-reference workflow with reminders and eligible media backup rather than an agent-editable Markdown workspace.

Choose a source library or an editable note workspace

A saved source supports a piece of work; an editable note may be the work itself. If you want AI agents updating documents and revisions, keep that requirement on the shortlist. Savebase's current ChatGPT and MCP library access is read-only, so it should not be presented as an equivalent writing system.

Decide which files and media need their own home

Keep's Markdown and file-oriented workflow covers more than source URLs. A migration should distinguish original notes, uploaded files and external references. Savebase's eligible social media backup is a separate capability, not a promise to recreate a file workspace or notebook history.

When keeping Keep (keep.md) makes sense

Keep Keep (keep.md) when portable Markdown, original notes, revisions and agent editing are central to your workflow. Savebase's reference library serves a narrower purpose.

Moving to Savebase

Bring original source URLs and retain your Markdown separately

Savebase file import option: Text / URL list

Dashboard imports of app exports, bookmark HTML files and text URL lists require Pro. Direct browser-bookmark import through the extension is available on Free and flattens the browser folder tree. Keep the original export and test a small batch: reused URLs can merge tags and folder memberships, and incoming non-empty notes can replace existing notes.

  1. 1

Download your portable Keep data and keep original Markdown notes, files and revisions in their own backup.

  2. 2

Collect the original source URLs you want in Savebase into a plain text file with one URL per line.

  3. 3

Use the Text / URL list importer, check the preview and add the context needed for your project-reference library.

Savebase has no native Keep Markdown workspace importer. Source URLs do not recreate editable notes, uploaded files, revision history or agent authorizations.

JSON export includes active saved records and their notes, tags and folder names. It contains media URLs, not media files, and currently omits transcripts and automation settings.

Questions about Keep (keep.md) alternatives

Is this a Google Keep alternatives guide?

No. It covers Keep at keep.md, a separate Markdown and agent-connected product. Google Keep is not the competitor being evaluated in this guide.

Can Savebase AI clients edit notes like Keep agents?

Savebase's current official ChatGPT plugin and MCP access are read-only library tools. They can help retrieve saved material, but the guide does not claim Keep's agent-editable Markdown and revision workflow. Choose based on whether source retrieval or document editing is the requirement.
