A better fit for what you save

Dewey alternatives for your saved library

Dewey already does more than collect tweets: its current site describes social syncing, AI tagging, exports and multiple-account organization. Choose an alternative around the job your next library should do. Our first pick is Savebase when saved posts need reminders, notes, eligible media backup and connections to your everyday research tools.

Decide how you will use the library after saving

If you collect references for client work or scripts, compare review reminders, notes and filing rules. If you mainly consume X bookmarks as scheduled reading, a digest-oriented tool may fit better. An export format alone does not determine how useful the library becomes.

Check the accounts and platforms you actually use

Test your own social sources and capture routine before moving the backlog. Dewey's current product is broader than an X-only tool, so a claim that it only handles tweets would be misleading. Choose from demonstrated workflows rather than an outdated platform count.

Our Dewey alternative shortlist

#1 · Our first pick for social references

Savebase

Start with Free

Savebase puts native saves from 11 supported social platforms and ordinary web links in one reference library. Use Grab Bookmarks or Grab Likes on X and Bluesky, capture available thread context and add notes after single saves. Set a per-post reminder before the research review. Pro adds eligible Instagram, Facebook, Threads and TikTok media backup, requested video transcripts, read-only ChatGPT/MCP access and integrations for your working tools.

Pro unlocks all 11 social platforms, unlimited social posts and folders, dashboard file imports, on-demand AI Bulk Tagging, read-only ChatGPT/MCP access, Notion and Google Sheets sync, RSS, rules, webhooks, media backup and video transcripts.

When keeping Dewey makes sense

Stay with Dewey if its multiple-account social workflow, media exports and curated collections already cover your research routine. It remains a credible choice for that job.

Moving to Savebase

Start with a Dewey CSV export

Savebase file import option: Dewey

Dashboard imports of app exports, bookmark HTML files and text URL lists require Pro. Direct browser-bookmark import through the extension is available on Free and flattens the browser folder tree. Keep the original export and test a small batch: reused URLs can merge tags and folder memberships, and incoming non-empty notes can replace existing notes.

  1. 1

Download a CSV of the bookmarks you want to move and retain the original export.

  2. 2

In Savebase's import dialog, choose Dewey, upload the CSV and inspect the preview before confirming.

  3. 3

Check representative posts, tags and notes, then configure reminders and any eligible backup for the new library.

A bookmark import is not a promise that every exported media file, collection permission or deleted original will transfer. Check a small batch before moving the complete library.

JSON export includes active saved records and their notes, tags and folder names. It contains media URLs, not media files, and currently omits transcripts and automation settings.

Questions about Dewey alternatives

What is a good Dewey alternative for saving beyond X?

Savebase is our first recommendation for a library combining supported social posts and web links with review reminders and integrations. Test the sources you use. Dewey itself also supports multiple social sources, so choose by the workflow rather than assuming it is X-only.

Can Savebase import Dewey bookmarks?

Yes, on Pro. Savebase has a Dewey CSV import option. Export your bookmarks, choose Dewey in the import dialog and review the preview. Verify a few representative records after importing; media files and shared collection settings are separate from the bookmark records.
