A better fit for what you save

Raindrop.io alternatives for your saved library

Raindrop.io is already a capable general bookmark library, with highlights, archived pages, shared collections and MCP. The reason to choose another tool should be specific. Savebase is our first recommendation when your collection is largely social posts and you want those references connected to reminders, eligible media backup and project workflows.

What should change when you switch?

A cross-platform link library with collections, highlights, page archives and MCP access.

Distinguish social media backup from webpage archives

A stored article page and a stored social video solve different problems. Decide which content matters to you, then check the relevant preservation behavior. Savebase backs up eligible media on four social platforms; it does not offer Raindrop's general webpage archive as an equivalent feature.

Choose your structure and collaboration needs

Consider whether you need a personal research library, shared collections or a server your team controls. Folder organization, AI tools and search are no longer enough to distinguish these products on their own. Test a real research task and your required sharing behavior.

#1 · Our first pick for social references

Savebase

Start with Free

Savebase is built around using saved references again: keep a post's context in a note, file it in several project folders and schedule a per-post reminder. Select text on a webpage to save the passage as its own reference with a source URL. Native social saves and ordinary links share the library. Pro adds eligible social media backup, requested video transcripts, RSS and Notion or Sheets sync; rules and webhooks connect saves to workflows you configure.

When keeping Raindrop.io makes sense

Keep Raindrop.io if shared collections, broad device coverage, webpage archives and its existing reading tools are your priorities. Switching is most useful when your reference workflow changes.

Moving to Savebase

Bring a Raindrop CSV into Savebase

Savebase file import option: Raindrop.io

Dashboard imports of app exports, bookmark HTML files and text URL lists require Pro. Direct browser-bookmark import through the extension is available on Free and flattens the browser folder tree. Keep the original export and test a small batch: reused URLs can merge tags and folder memberships, and incoming non-empty notes can replace existing notes.

  1. 1

Use Raindrop's Settings → Backups to create an export, then download the CSV for the records you want to move.

  2. 2

Choose Raindrop.io in Savebase's import dialog and check the preview, including notes and collection-derived folders.

  3. 3

Verify a small set of imported records before organizing the wider collection around your current projects.

Keep separately downloaded files and archived page copies. Moving bookmark records does not transfer Raindrop's hosted archives, collaboration permissions or every highlight.

JSON export includes active saved records and their notes, tags and folder names. It contains media URLs, not media files, and currently omits transcripts and automation settings.

Questions about Raindrop.io alternatives

Does Savebase replace Raindrop's permanent webpage copies?

No. Savebase's eligible media backup preserves successfully fetched media from Instagram, Facebook, Threads and TikTok. It is different from a general webpage archive. Choose Raindrop, Linkwarden or another archiving tool when retaining whole article pages is the core requirement.

Does Raindrop already support AI assistants?

Yes. Raindrop's current official site advertises MCP access. Savebase also offers an official ChatGPT plugin and MCP server, so compare what you want to save and do with the library rather than treating MCP availability as unique to Savebase.
