Savebase for Writers

Bookmark manager for writers

Keep the reference and the thought it sparked.

A source matters because of the idea it gives you, not just its title. Savebase is a bookmark manager for writers who collect examples, factual references and background reading across the web. Keep your interpretation beside the link and organize by piece or chapter so drafting starts from the research you already did.

From save to useful reference

A workflow for writers

Save selected text ↗

Save the sentence and your reason for keeping it

Select the passage that suggests an example, argument or counterpoint and use Save highlight to Savebase. It becomes a separate reference carrying the selected words and original URL. Add a private note separating your interpretation from the author's language. Use Content search for the passage and Note search for your own angle when you return to the draft.

Folders & tags ↗

Separate projects from reusable background

Use folders for current pieces or chapters and tags for themes that recur across projects. A reference about attention can support several essays without several duplicate saves. Keep inspiration and factual support distinguishable so a memorable anecdote does not become the only evidence for a broad claim.

Email reminders ↗

Return to the reading that still needs work

Set a reminder for a source you need to read before drafting and enable email delivery. Add the unanswered question to its note. This makes the read-later list an active part of the writing process, with a clear reason to return before the deadline.

Start with one real project.

A small, annotated collection is a useful place to begin.

Savebase quick start →
  1. 1

Create a project folder and a few theme tags you will reuse across pieces.

  2. 2

Save sources with a note distinguishing your interpretation, exact quotes and facts to verify.

  3. 3

Schedule the remaining reading before drafting, then return to the originals for attribution.

Keep your library useful as it grows.

Bring existing references through browser import or Pro file imports. Keep a portable record through JSON export.

JSON export includes active saved records and their notes, tags and folder names. It contains media URLs, not media files, and currently omits transcripts and automation settings.

Duplicate cleanup scans currently loaded posts, keeps the oldest record and permanently removes newer duplicates without merging their notes. Review the scan before confirming removal. See duplicate cleanup guidance.

Choose the plan for your workflow

Free includes any 2 of the 11 supported social platforms, up to 100 social posts, 5 folders and unlimited ordinary web links. Notes, manual tags, per-post reminders, JSON export and direct browser-bookmark import through the extension are included.

Pro unlocks all 11 social platforms, unlimited social posts and folders, dashboard file imports, on-demand AI Bulk Tagging, read-only ChatGPT/MCP access, Notion and Google Sheets sync, RSS, rules, webhooks, media backup and video transcripts.

Media backup must be enabled and successfully fetch eligible Instagram, Facebook, Threads or TikTok media. Request video transcripts when needed; new saves are not automatically transcribed.

Where Savebase fits in your work

Savebase manages the research feeding your writing. It does not replace a drafting environment or bibliography manager.

Common questions from writers

Can Savebase help organize research for a book?

Yes. Use folders for chapters or research questions and tags for recurring themes. Add notes explaining where a source might fit, then search those notes when drafting. Keep your manuscript, revision history and bibliography in the tools designed for them.

Does Savebase automatically verify my sources?

No. Savebase stores and organizes your references. You still check factual claims, quotations, dates and attribution against the original source. Notes are useful for tracking those checks and distinguishing a promising lead from material ready to use.
