A better fit for what you save

ClipCrate alternatives for your saved library

ClipCrate focuses on extracting tools and takeaways from saved clips, with an iOS app and plan-specific clip allowances. Savebase is our first recommendation when the useful object is the reference itself: a supported social post, your note about it and a way to return to it during work. Automated summaries and a reference library solve related but different jobs.

What should change when you switch?

An iOS-oriented saver focused on video summaries and extracting mentioned tools.

Choose extracted takeaways or the original reference

If the goal is to identify a tool mentioned in a clip, extraction may be the defining feature. If you need to study a creative example or use a source in research, context notes and access to the original matter more. Compare those outputs directly with your own videos.

Check the saving routine and plan allowance

Review where you will save and how often. ClipCrate's official site lists paid clip allowances and its Apple app, with Android described as coming soon. Savebase provides web and browser-extension workflows; its own mobile apps are also coming soon, not an existing replacement iPhone app.

Our ClipCrate alternative shortlist

#1 · Our first pick for social references

Savebase

Start with Free

Savebase gives video references a place beside the rest of your research. Save supported social posts, add the hook, tool or explanation you noticed in a note and schedule a reminder to study it. Eligible paid transcripts make supported spoken video content searchable, while backup can preserve fetchable Instagram, Facebook, Threads and TikTok media. Connect the library to Notion, Sheets or an AI tool when the reference becomes useful.

When keeping ClipCrate makes sense

Keep ClipCrate if its iPhone share flow, automated summaries and mentioned-tool extraction are the experience you want. Savebase does not claim an equivalent built-in automatic summary generator.

Bring the original URLs you still have

Savebase file import option: Text / URL list

Dashboard imports of app exports, bookmark HTML files and text URL lists require Pro. Direct browser-bookmark import through the extension is available on Free and flattens the browser folder tree. Keep the original export and test a small batch: reused URLs can merge tags and folder memberships, and incoming non-empty notes can replace existing notes.

  1. 1

Retain existing ClipCrate records through any export available to you, or collect the source links for selected clips.

  2. 2

Put original video or post URLs in a plain text file, one URL per line; do not substitute generated summary text for the source.

  3. 3

Choose Text / URL list in Savebase, inspect the preview and add your own research notes after checking the links.

There is no native ClipCrate importer. A source list does not migrate tool-extraction results, generated summaries or inaccessible original media.

JSON export includes active saved records and their notes, tags and folder names. It contains media URLs, not media files, and currently omits transcripts and automation settings.

Questions about ClipCrate alternatives

Does Savebase automatically summarize videos like ClipCrate?

Savebase supports transcripts for supported saved videos and AI-tool access to your library, but it does not claim ClipCrate's built-in automatic summaries or mentioned-tool extraction. Choose the product around whether you need extracted takeaways or a working reference library.

Can I use Savebase as a live iPhone app replacement?

Savebase's mobile apps are coming soon. The current alternative workflow uses its web app and supported browser extensions. If a native iPhone share workflow is essential today, include available Apple apps such as ClipCrate or ARCHV in your shortlist.
